Queen of Tarts
Two romances for Halloween! (And one for Christmas...) Queenie Hart has a wee problem. Every October things go pear-shaped when a sharp-tongued alter ego emerges from the generally can-do Queenie. Employers don't like it. Boyfriends flee. Angel Petty, the landlady, really doesn't like it. Queenie and her little baking business, Queen of Tarts have notice to quit- effective immediately. With her parents on the grey nomad trail, Queenie has one option left- her dad's cousin Branok. Shane Hart and Branok St Ives don't get along, but Shane once told Queenie that if she was ever in real trouble, Branok might get her out. Maybe. Branok agrees, reluctantly, but there is only so much he can do.
Enter The Fixer who can do practically anything, except, it seems, for getting Queenie to remember his face.
In Book 2, Mitch Kingsolver, The Fixer, is unavoidably absent and when Queenie, holed up in her new home at The Belfry, calls him in despair, someone else turns up instead. James Stuart has a Glaswegian accent, a penchant for argyle sweaters, and he throws a hissy fit in Queenie's kitchen. And yes, there ARE bats in the belfry...
In Book 3, Queenie has a new challenge when her landlord sets her a creative task in lieu of rent. Twelve new tarts for Christmas! Queenie gets baking, but she has to come to terms with Ayesha the terrible, and then her parents arrive. What will they make of Mitch and The Belfry?
